It's a big part of the country's economy, so gardeners can still work under basic lockdowns. However, it's not vital to the general public. According to the authorities' update, companies can provide in-home services during all four levels, but they must do so to protect staff and customers. Some gardeners work during the coronavirus outbreak.
However, you should be very careful when you allow someone to come to your house. You must ensure that the company you hire for the job takes the necessary preventive measures, that gardeners wear protective equipment, and that the equipment meets all important safety requirements issued by the government. Public Testing Pre-Registration (Washington, DC) — Today, due to the growing number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Washington, DC, and across the region and country, Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a stay-at-home order for the District of Columbia. This order reinforces the Mayor's order for residents to stay at home, except for essential activities.
Maintain the maximum number of people in their residences to the greatest extent possible, consistent with the protection of their own health and that of others, while allowing essential activities, government services and business to continue; B. Significantly reduce the spread of COVID-19; C. Reduce COVID-19 infections, COVID-19 disease, and deaths caused by COVID-19 and its complications; D. Protect the health, safety, and well-being of Washington, DC residents and others located in Washington, DC; AND.
Allow essential activities, businesses and government services to operate and be delivered with relative security; and F. Preserve a sphere of personal freedom by allowing outdoor recreational activities in conditions designed to minimize health risks. Individuals using public transportation for essential travel must comply with the social distancing requirements defined in subsection IV, 8 of this Order, to the fullest extent possible. Backdoor entry of any bus or van with a back door is recommended to protect drivers.
Drivers of ridesharing vehicles participating in essential travel must have disinfecting wipes in their vehicles and must clean all surfaces that a passenger may touch after each trip. Drivers of ridesharing vehicles cannot have more than two (other people) in their vehicle at any one time. People using shared personal mobility devices, such as scooters and bicycles, are strongly encouraged to bring their own disinfecting wipes and clean the parts of the device they touch before and after traveling. Public and private transportation officials will need to take steps to frequently disinfect buses, subway cars and any other vehicles they operate, to the highest possible standards.
OPERATION OF ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES & MINIMUM BUSINESS OPERATIONS A. Participating in an activity or performing a task essential for a person's own health or safety, or for the health or safety of the person's family or household members, including pets. Obtain services or supplies for the individual himself or the person's family or household members; or deliver those services or supplies to others that are necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation, and operation of residences. Perform supply work for essential products and services in an essential business or carry out activities specifically permitted under this order, including minimum basic operations.
Caring for a family member or pet in another household or serving as a caregiver who provides essential services to another person. Care involves more than companionship or entertainment, but rather assists a person with activities of daily living, supervising children, or otherwise serving the immediate physical needs and safety of someone who cannot provide for those needs on their own. Providing or obtaining services in a healthcare operation. The term “health care operation” also includes veterinary care and all health care services provided to animals.
This authorization shall be interpreted broadly to avoid any impact on the provision of health care, defined in general terms. The term “health care operation” does not include fitness facilities, gyms, spas, massage parlors, or other similar facilities. Provide any services or perform any work necessary for the operations and maintenance of Essential Infrastructure. For the purposes of this Order, the term “Essential Infrastructure” includes critical or emergency public works or services, construction, collection and disposal of solid waste by private and public entities, telecommunications services; provided that a person provides these services and performs this work of compliance with the Social Distancing Requirements defined in Section IV, 8 of this Order, to the extent practicable.
Other infrastructure and construction activities may be permitted as Essential Business under section IV, 3 of this Order. Travel related to the provision of or access to Essential Activities, Essential Government Functions, Essential Business, or Minimum Basic Operations, including travel to and from work to operate Essential Businesses or maintain Essential Government Functions; B. Travel to care for the elderly, minors, dependents, people with disabilities, or other vulnerable people; C. Travel required to visit a place of worship; D.
Travel to or from educational institutions for the purpose of receiving materials for distance learning, for receiving meals and any other related services; AND. Travel back to a place of residence from outside of Washington, DC; F. Travel required by court order or police order; G. Travel required for non-residents to return to their place of residence outside of Washington, DC; and H.
Travel within the Washington region to participate in activities permitted under the laws of that jurisdiction. The minimum activities necessary to maintain the value of the company's inventory, ensure safety, process payroll and employee benefits, and related functions; B. The minimum activities necessary to make it easier for company employees to continue working remotely from their homes; and C. The minimum activities necessary to facilitate teleworking or remote provision of services previously provided in person by the company; to provide pay and benefits for employees of the company; to provide cleaning and disinfection of a company's premises; or to provide supervision by of the employees of contractors or employees who perform essential maintenance of the facility.
Maintain social distancing of at least six (-feet) from other people; B. Wash hands with soap and water for at least twenty (20) seconds or use hand sanitizer frequently, or after contact with potentially infected surfaces, to the greatest extent possible; C. Cover yourself when coughing or sneezing, preferably with a tissue immediately, or on the sleeve or elbow, not on the hands; D. Regularly clean frequently touched surfaces; and if any provision of this Order or its application to any person or circumstance is found to be invalid, the reminder of the Order, including the application of such part or provision to other persons or circumstances, will remain unaffected and will continue in full force and effect.
Are home health care aides and direct service providers essential? No, but large gatherings of ten or more people are prohibited, so in practice most churches do not hold services. Weddings and funerals can only be 10 people or less. Places of worship can maintain basic business operations, and many open their doors to people who come in and want a quiet place to pray alone. Many congregations also maintain their social service programs to deliver essential items such as food to people at home or help others keep medical appointments.
Are fire monitoring services closed? Should all activities be conducted in a manner that minimizes risk. Offices must move mainly to teleworking or have the minimum number of people present to manage the closure. Does the Mayor's Stay-at-Home Order define taxi and rideshare drivers as “essential”? DC Homeland Security Emergency Management Agency Exemption Process for Exemption. As it currently stands, gardeners can work, but only when it's safe to do so and when social distancing is maintained. Gardeners should make sure to stay at least two meters away from all people and, where possible, avoid contact altogether. However, the advice for clinically vulnerable gardeners is to stay home.
For the time being, gardeners can continue to work, but only if it is safe to do so and if they can maintain social distancing. Gregg Abbott's executive order to mitigate COVID-19 includes avoiding social gatherings of 10 or more people, practicing six-foot social distancing, and employing frequent and thorough hand washing and surface disinfection. There is no statewide shelter-in-place order, but individual counties are enacting shelter-in-place orders, requiring non-essential businesses to close. Because nursery, greenhouse and garden center businesses are included in agriculture, they are considered essential.
However, employers should only require essential employees to report to work and allow employees to work from home if possible. Andy Beshear stated an executive order that read: “Non-life-sustaining retail businesses can provide local delivery and curbside service for orders online or by phone. As for tools, plants and the like, the virus will die in a matter of hours, so it is perfectly possible to take a walk in the garden soon after the work has been done. Landscaping services and green industry businesses are not included in this list of non-essential businesses and should be allowed to remain open.
As of March 23, there is no state ban on any type of business; individual cities have restaurants closed (Boise), but agribusinesses such as flower shops, greenhouses, large chains with garden sections are open. Once you book your garden service, you will be asked if there have been cases of COVID-19 in your home. The order states: “Farmworkers and support service workers should include those who grow crops; commodity inspection; ethanol fuel facilities; storage facilities; and other agricultural inputs as essential. However, growers and garden centers may be considered exempt depending on essential food and agriculture companies or if they can maintain social distancing guidelines and prohibit gatherings of more than 10 people at a time, including employees.
Lawn services are also considered essential to maintaining essential safety, sanitation, and operations. Although the essential business guide in the order does not clearly mention garden centers, many garden centers offer fruits and vegetables to customers for home gardening and sell firewood, pet supplies, and other household essentials. You might consider booking a garden service, but before that, you should keep a couple of things in mind. Among the essential businesses allowed to operate normally under the order are the state's agricultural industries, including producers of nursery plants and garden centers, organic grocery stores, agricultural operations, urban gardens, and landscaping companies that respect social distancing local and other CDC guidelines for your employees and customers.
Some gardeners may also choose to accept only jobs where they can access gardens with side access, those without customer contact, or those within walking distance that do not require the use of public transport. For the purposes of this Order, the term “Essential Infrastructure” includes critical or emergency public works or services, construction, collection and disposal of solid waste by private and public entities, telecommunications services; provided that a person provides these services and performs this work of compliance with social distancing requirements defined in Section IV. As of March 25, there were no restrictions on the production of greenhouses and nurseries or retail garden centers. .
